Materials science and engineering is a fundamentally interdisciplinary field, with work touching on nearly every aspect of society, from the inexpensive plastics that have become ubiquitous to the batteries have that have revolutionized the field of portable electronics. At the University of Southern California, this diversity is reflected in both the expertise of the faculty as well as the highly collaborative culture that permeates the campus.
